Age 6? Time to protect the new molars

The first permanent molars

They emerge at the back of the mouth without any baby tooth falling out, which is why many parents don't notice. These teeth are for life — and the first at risk of decay.

Hard-to-clean grooves

Molar surfaces are full of deep grooves where the toothbrush can't reach well. Food and bacteria build up there: it's where most childhood cavities start.

The protective sealant

A sealant is a thin resin that fills the grooves and creates a smooth barrier against bacteria. It's quick (a few minutes per tooth), painless and needs no anaesthesia. It can last years and is checked at every visit.

Preventing before a problem appears: that's what sealants are about. Ask us at your next visit or call 051 814000.
